Adrenaline Addict Self-Test

Synchronicity in Magical Maine Maine really is magical. I confirmed that several weeks ago when my husband Derek, and I took our ’64 white Corvette convertible on a fun weekend road trip to visit Katrine, my retreat partner, on Swan Lake in Maine. My mind keeps wandering back to that red canoe on the lake shore, begging me to turn it over and paddle out… or rather, piddle lazily along the shore, watching the eagle dive for lunch and imagining the quiet camps of days gone by. Once I arrived and relaxed into the simple majesty of Swan Lake and this place of upscale rustic, I began to wake up. Wake up to the fact that it was no coincidence that I just happened to be here on Swan Lake exactly one year to the day when I first met Katrine (July 23, 2004) in New Hampshire at The Women’s Leadership Summit. Little did I know, when she handed me a brochure for a yoga retreat on Swan Lake, that 1 year later we would be co-leading a retreat there! I also remember what started out to be an ordinary night, one week after meeting Katrine in 2004, when I was weeding with my dear friend Sarah at her Magic Garden Club, wondering when and where to do my 1st Treehouse Retreat. Suddenly, out of the blue, a musician-turned-farmer named Denny Williams wandered by. As one conversation thread led to another, he told me the name of his newest CD. “Tree House”. I couldn’t believe it. So he went to his truck and pulled out a copy and gave it to me. “Tree House”. I felt shivers surging through me. What were the odds… I asked him where he performed these days and he said he only does 2 gigs a year now---one in California and the other in Maine. On Swan Lake! My jaw dropped. One week earlier, I had never heard of Swan Lake and now it was showing up in my life in the most unlikely places. I believe our souls show us our “right next step” through the language of synchronicity. Our logical minds often don’t trust these meaningful coincidences because at the time, they don’t make sense or there’s no evidence to back them up. Yet, time and time again, I see how “aha moments”, gut reactions and intuitive impulses—often through synchronicity-- guide us to create the passionate and purposeful lives for which we yearn. Synchronicity continued to guide me. As I walked into the den on Swan Lake, on that magical July 23, 2005, my eye went straight to a certain framed poster on the wall with a quote by Goethe. “Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.” In the Fall of 2001 I sent out my 1st coaching brochure. Yes, you guessed it. In it was this very same quote! Goosebumps covered my body. I felt an energy that connected me to something much bigger than myself. The Universe was sending me neon signs to move in this direction. And so I am. Boldly dreaming and beginning. On October 8-10, 2005, Katrine and I will lead the first overnight Treehouse Retreat…on Swan Lake, in magical Maine! I’m in awe at how this has all unfolded. If this is what has happened to me on Swan Lake, what magical treats will be awaiting the 8 midlife women who hear synchronicity calling them to come retreat… and “re-Treat”? Yes, Maine really is magical! |
